RESPONSIBLE TRAVELLING- TRAVEL GREEN

Image
Trekking and hiking has become a somewhat must do thing in every traveller's list of things to do, or you can say a tourist. While many will argue about whether there exists any difference between a traveller and a tourist, it is the truth that there is a difference. A traveller travels to enjoy the beauty of nature and fulfil his/her sense of adventure, at the same time, sacrificing luxuries and comforts. On the other hand, a tourist visits a place to just see the main attractions and floods his/her social media with pictures to boast to the world. A traveller protects the environment while the tourist doesn't care. Both are travelling but for different reasons. Due to the sudden surge of tourist traffic in the pristine areas of Himalayas in recent years, the ecology of these vulnerable places is depleting at a fast pace. Every year in summers and winters, a lot of people from around the country, visit the popular places of Manali, Shimla, Mussoorie etc. and even lesser ...

CHANDRAKHANI PASS TREK- A HIGH VOLTAGE ADVENTURE

Image
This lesser known trek has been one of the many high octane adventures in the Kullu Valley of the beautiful state of Himachal Pradesh. This trek stands out due to its outstanding views and the difficulties faced due to its steep terrain. The trek to Chandrakhani pass starts from the small town of Naggar near Manali. The trek can be completed in 3 days. There are two ways through which you can reach Chandrakhani Pass, one way is through the Malana Village which is very steep, and other way is through the Rumsu Village near Naggar Town which is a little less steep but still a lot steeper as compared to other treks in Kullu. The trek can be started by early morning from Rumsu. Rumsu is a village near Naggar town which can be reached from Manali via bus or taxi in an hour. The trail from Rumsu goes through a dense forest and now and then the trail opens into green meadows. There are two-three small tea shops at some distance from each other on the trail. As you move ahead, th...

SPECTACULAR CHANDRASHILA-TUNGNATH TREK

Image
My trekking enthusiasm and resolve to see new places took me to Uttarakhand this time. I had combed the corners of Himachal Pradesh quite a few times so this time, I wanted to go somewhere new. I had heard about this trek many times from trekkers that it is an easy trail but the views are magnificent. I started my journey from Delhi early in the morning and boarded a bus to Rishikesh. I reached Rishikesh in the afternoon and then after some refreshment boarded a bus towards Srinagar, a small town near Rudraprayag. Unfortunately we met with an accident on the way when the bus overturned and tilted on the mountain side but everybody was safe and no casualties took place. This incident made the journey a little more adventurous and thereafter the bus driver proceeded with caution. We reached Srinagar at night and took a halt there. Next morning we proceeded towards Rudraprayag in a bus and from Rudraprayag, we took a pooled taxi to Ukhimath and from there, we hired a car to...

Bir Billing- The Paragliding Destination

Image
There are a lot of hidden treasures in the beautiful valleys and meadows of Himachal Pradesh and add to that adventure sports and then you would never want to come back from such a paradise. Quaint and beautiful, such a place is BirBilling in the Kangra valley of Himachal. The place is famous for paragliding and not a very crowded spot which is nestled in the foothills of the snow covered Dhauladhar mountain ranges. We reached Bir after travelling for 4 hours in a local bus from Mandi.  Bir is a small town and provides a spectacular view of the mighty Dhauladhar ranges standing tall in front of us. The paragliding spot was at Billing at a height of 1350 metres. We decided to go half way from Bir to Billing by car and then trek on rest of the route to reach the top. We reached Billing in the evening after an hour long trek and decided to camp there. The camping and food arrangements were already made for us up there and there were 25 more people with us who were camping. ...

Untouched Tirthan Valley

The human mind can be described as a restless freak. It doesnt want to stay in one place and always wants to wander. I have recently developed a thing for less crowded and unexplored places where the human chit chatter doesnt reach my ears and all I could hear is chirping of birds and gushing of flowing water. Such a kind of place is the quaint and beautiful Tirthan Valley in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. We started our journey by boarding a bus towards Manali and left Delhi in the evening. The morning view during the last hours of the bus journey was amazing as the Beas river flowed between the mountains in narrow stream beside us. We reached Aut the following morning which is around 40kms away from Mandi and lies on the way to Manali. We boarded a local bus from Aut towards Banjaar and from there hired a taxi till Gushaini. It took us around one hour to reach Gushaini from Aut altogether. We had not per-booked our stay at any resort or hotel so we started searching for a plac...

TREK TO THE BEAUTIFUL TRIUND VALLEY

Image
Some experiences are life-changing, they change you totally, alter your view on how you see the nature, its beauty, its depth. I have always been less of an adventurous person and almost always disliked mountain tourist spots as I always preferred beach spots instead. But one day it happened that a friend of mine planned a trek to the triund valley in Himachal Pradesh. I was reluctant at first but then I joined in to instill a little of adventure streak inside me. So we set out to Mcleodganj near Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh from Delhi. We left Delhi in the evening and the roads were smooth. The bus ride was comfortable and we were talking while the full moon was making everything sparkle outside in its bright white light. We reached Mcleodganj in the morning and I woke up to see the mesmerising peaks of the Dhauladhar ranges with one peak towering behind another and forming a beautiful chain of mountains. We had our morning tea and breakfast at Crepe Pancakes with some of...

THE ULTIMATE DESERT SAFARI

Image
It was a full moon night when we were in the Thar Desert. The January winter was at its peak and the chilly wind was blowing. Our camp was 32kms away from Jaisalmer, in the Sam sand dunes, the place where the endless fun began. A bonfire was lit and was warming up the whole atmosphere and Rajasthani folk music and dance were adorning the night with their excellence. Our usual friends’enjoyment session was going on and when the folk music session was over, we took on the party with our trance music collection which we played in the background and everyone started dancing to the tunes. The fun kept on increasing with every second and we all jumped and danced around the bonfire. At that time, one of the owners of the camp who was our age became our friend and started talking to us. We started telling him how we wanted to see the stars in the open sky while standing on the sand dunes in the vast desert. He suddenly got up and told us to come with him. He had a vintage jeep and he drove ...
