Dilli Haat: The Ethnic Food Junction
It was a pleasant February
afternoon when I visited this place for the first time. This place is a
bustling centre for art and culture with a variety of shops displaying ethnic
jewellery, beautiful Pashmina shawls and stoles, ethnic clothing and delicious
food. We entered the place and there were shawls and stoles swinging in the air
all around and of such beautiful and exquisite fabrics which a person can
hardly find in any other place in the city. There were other shops selling
ethnic wear like Kurtis, Dupattas and ethnic jewellery. Everything was
impressive but as a habit I always search for the thing which I am most likely
to search everywhere, the food. Luckily here, a person as foodie as me has many
options to explore and many delectable items to taste.
There are shops selling
regional food relating to the particular Indian state they belong and hence
named accordingly. There was this heavenly Hyderabadi Dum Biryani of Andhra
Pradesh stall and the Onion Tomato Uthapam of Tamil Nadu stall. Other stalls
were of Maharashtra, Nagaland, Sikkim, Assam, Kerala, West Bengal, Punjab and
many many more. The list was endless and same were the options. Due to my
limited eating capacity I couldn't eat delicacies from other stalls but will
definitely return to this place to have some more fun with the food. The open
seating outside the shops is really nice and if the weather is good, one can
enjoy a lot here. Apart from food, all the other stuff that the place offers is
also worth seeing. A lot of foreigners are always here as they are more
interested in the Indian culture and art. The place is a must visit for
everyone and worth coming back again.
